Meet Regan
Engineer. Entrepreneur. Community Leader.
I’m running for Anoka County Commissioner because I want to ensure our quality of life continues to be healthy and strong. Living here is a wonderful blessing. It’s important to be good stewards of what we have so all residents can grow and prosper.
I run a tight ship.
Local government should be efficient. The county is a business. It should run efficiently. I want to be a part of ensuring that happens.
Let’s focus on what really impacts our lives – safety, roads, and being fiscally responsible.
A Proven Record of Leadership
As a mechanical engineer and business owner, I’ve spent my career building successful organizations and working for myself: solving problems, managing resources, and turning ideas into action.
As the founder and Executive Director of the Lupus Research Foundation, I built a nationally recognized nonprofit from the ground up. Leading the organization has given me experience in budgeting, strategic planning, and responsible stewardship of resources.
That experience shapes my view of government. I believe county government should operate with clear priorities, responsible budgeting, transparency, and accountability. And safety. We need to be good watchdogs. Taxpayer dollars should be treated with the same care and respect families and business owners give to their own budgets.
I used my mechanical engineering degree to become a patent agent. Writing patents involved studying vast amounts of information, distilling it into everyday language, and writing claims to protect inventions. My work history includes collaborating with others in making decisions. I believe I’ll make a great commissioner, because I collaborate well with other people.
As County Commissioner, I will focus on:
- Fiscal Responsibility – Spending taxpayer dollars wisely.
- Public Safety – Supporting law enforcement and emergency services.
- Infrastructure & Transportation – Maintaining road safety and services residents rely on.
- Transparency & Accountability – Making county government more open and responsive.
- Protecting Our Quality of Life – Preserving the values that make Anoka County a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
My family and I are proud to call Anoka County home. I’m committed to bringing practical leadership, common-sense solutions, and a strong work ethic to county government, focusing on the residents of Anoka County and protecting the quality of life we value.
Career
My career has been built around solving problems, creating opportunities, and delivering results.
I began as a mechanical engineer and patent agent, developing the analytical and practical mindset that continues to guide me today.
After being diagnosed with lupus, I used my engineering background to develop Regan MOVES, a fitness and wellness program that has helped people with chronic health challenges across the country improve mobility, confidence, and quality of life.
I also founded and lead the Lupus Research Foundation, building it from the ground up into a nationally recognized nonprofit focused on advancing research and supporting patients and families.
In addition, I helped Four Seasons Curling Center become a U.S. Olympic Training Site for curling, bringing national recognition and new opportunities to our community.
Whether in engineering, nonprofit leadership, health advocacy, or sports, I’ve spent my career building organizations, solving challenges, and helping others succeed.
Collaboration and Solid Decision-Making
I am very appreciative of the quality of life we enjoy. I want to give back to the community that has given me so much.
It’s important for all people to live where they feel safe, where they can rely on emergency services, have access to good jobs and great way of life, and to have safe roads.
My way of working is to keep things simple.
I’ve always been a believer that it’s easy to work towards a goal, we just have to take it one step at a time.
I believe my background in patent work as well as community-based *** will help me be a great representative of our district and work well with the commissioner board to deliver great service based in fiscal responsibility and care for people.

After being diagnosed with lupus,
“I have passion for competition. When I was first diagnosed, I felt my spirit was injured – as though something deep and important inside me was taken away. I insisted on keeping my spirit, including my competitive nature. I want people to see that they can still be aggressive, even while facing challenges, and keep their desire to compete alive. It may mean taking a different path, or becoming creative: I strongly believe that there is always a way; we just have to find it.”

We have the ability to empower ourselves.
I truly believe that, because it happened to me.
I will work towards
For 2.5 years, I was on chemotherapy to treat systemic lupus. At one point, I needed a cane just to get up the stairs. I lived with constant fatigue and pain that kept me up at night. Today, I’m able to teach exercise classes, compete in curling at the national level, and run two businesses—proof that healing can take many forms, and that empowerment is possible.
Overcoming limitations is a testament to the power of movement: physical movement, yes, and also movement within our hearts and minds. It’s a testament to the strength of the community we build together – and the hope and fire within each of us that lifts us up individually, and lifts one another.
I see my work as helping people find their joy by bringing out their personal power. In sharing the thinking patterns and techniques I used to help me get better – both physically and emotionally – I help the audience tap into their own stories of triumph.
We all have the power to feel joy and discover our own sense of freedom.
As we move through challenges and step into that freedom, our energy grows. We’re better able to show up fully for one another. That good energy ripples outward, and weaves magic between us.
Your light matters. And when you shine, you help others shine too.
It starts with you.”

I specialize in connecting with people in our shared experiences. I help them move beyond perceived limitations and find their own personal power from within. My goal is to help people feel energized and empowered – so they can take control of their own lives, and reach their professional and personal goals – guided by what matters to them most. This will help them be a light for others.
